Servicing of Water Fountains
A common misconception is that the servicing of water fountains and mains fed water coolers are the same, this is not the case. Water fountains are commonly found in schools and public places, they are made with stainless steel whereas water coolers can generally be found in offices fed by the mains and made of plastic. This makes the maintenance of water fountains slightly different. Stainless steel fountains are more likely to get a buildup of limescale as it is more visible than on plastic. To combat this, a scale limescale spray is used.
Generally, water fountains have a tap system with a fit in drain to get rid of its own waste. Water fountains are usually floor standing. This differs from water coolers which operate with a drip tray which needs manually emptying. The Thirst Alternative offers both servicing and maintenance of both water fountains and water coolers across the UK with little price variation from £145 per annum (per unit) + VAT. We recommend two full sanitisations each year, this includes full sterilisation of internal components (with a hydrogen peroxide flush) along with a new filter to keep water tasting fresh. Among this, the external panel will be cleaned, and a maintenance record card displayed on the side detailing your next due service.
Sometimes, misconceptions can be made when describing both units. As previously described, water coolers are made from plastic and feature buttons to dispense water, this description may better suit your unit. People generalise the term water cooler quite often, so its important to understand which machine you are looking to be serviced so you can accurately ask for which service you need. If your unit looks more like the picture below, it may be a water cooler.
There are lots of variation on water coolers, some may be table top but generically are floor standing. To access more information about Water Cooler servicing click here.
